5 Things Celtics must do to win tonight - Game 4

Well, here we are, Game 4. The game that could be this team's last of the year. The game that could be KG's last game as a Celtic. If it is, they should make it a good one. Without further ado, here are tonight's five things:5. MORE SHOTS FOR BASS:In the Game Three loss, Brandon Bass shot just 1/5 from the field. I'm shocked that this team only gave him 5 attempts. With the way he's been playing recently, he deserves a lot more. 4. MORE SHOTS FOR BRADLEY:Avery Bradley wasn't treated much differently. In that game, the little guy only got four field goal attempts. He also needs more. If they want to win four in a row, he'll need to play like Rondo.3. TAKE BETTER CARE OF THE BALL:In Game Three, the Celtics turned the ball over seventeen times while the Knicks turned the ball over only eleven times. Either they need to take better care of the ball or New York's ball handlers need to collapse. 2. KEEP GREEN HOT:Jeff Green has been one of the few bright spots for the Celtics in this series. On Friday, Green led the team with twenty-one points on eight-of-seventeen shooting. He just needs to keep this up. 1. FIX KG:In Game Three, Kevin Garnett scored just twelve points on five-of-thirteen shooting. He's had a great career in Boston, it'd be a shame if it ended badly. He needs to at least play well in what could be his last game. Tip-off for this one will be at 1:00 pm ET. You can see it on ABC.

C’s Avoid Sweep as Knicks Comeback Falls Short in OT

AP Photo/Elise AmendolaBy Kenneth Teape (@teapester725)Sunday, April 28th, 2013Game 4 Post Game RecapFinal Score: New York Knicks: 90 Boston Celtics: 97The Knicks once again spotted the Celtics a first half to forget but unlike Game 1 and 2 they were not able to finish the comeback this time around.  The Celtics went up by as many as 20 points but once again imploded in the second half, giving the Knicks an opportunity to get back in the game and even take a lead at the end.  The Knicks struggled to put the ball in the basket throughout the game without Sixth Man of the Year J.R. Smith, who was suspended for the afternoon after a flagrant-2 foul when he elbowed Jason Terry in Game 3.  The Knicks will look to bounce back and close out the series Wednesday night back at Madison Square Garden with Smith back in the lineup.-Positives ·         Raymond Felton was great for the Knicks tonight.  He stepped up huge in the scoring department with the Knicks needing someone to score alongside Carmelo Anthony.  Felton had a monster third quarter to get the Knicks back on track and make the Celtics lead disappear.  Felton scored 16 of his 27 in the third quarter, scoring 10 points in a 17-7 stretch the Knicks went on to end the quarter to cut the Celtics lead to three heading into the fourth.  Felton also gave the Knicks their first lead of the game with a jumper with 1:18 left in the fourth quarter, but the Knicks were unable to hold onto lead.  In addition to the 27 points, Felton finished the game adding four rebounds, three assists and three steals.·         Iman Shumpert also played a big role for the Knicks in their comeback.  Shumpert had five points and six rebounds in the third quarter and added seven more points in the fourth as he saw his minutes increased today with Smith sidelined.  Shumpert also played great defense throughout the afternoon, including a steal and layup in the fourth quarter to tie the game at 74.  Shumpert played as good of defense as a player at the size disadvantage he was matching up with Paul Pierce and Jeff Green throughout the game.  Shumpert finished the game with a double-double, scoring 12 points and grabbing 12 rebounds while adding two blocks and two steals as well.·         Tyson Chandler had quite possibly his strongest game of the season in Game 4.  He grabbed 11 rebounds in 31 minutes of play, adding five points, one assist and one steal.  Chandler has looked a little off after hurting his neck and missing 16 of 20 games heading into the playoffs but looks to be rounding into shape a little more as the series wears on.  He still has his moments where he doesn’t look all the way back but he is definitely improving from Game 1 and 2.-Negatives·         Without Smith coming off the bench there was virtually no production from the second unit of the Knicks.  In a role reversal from the first three games, the Celtics bench outscored the Knicks bench 22-7 as Martin scored four points and Novak scored three.  Without Smith the Knicks relied heavily on the starting unit to provide all of the scoring; Smith was sorely missed this afternoon.·         Anthony had another big scoring night getting 36 points, but it was not an easy 36 by any means.  He shot 10 of 35 from the field but did make 16 of 20 foul shots, missing two crucial free throws in the fourth quarter with the game tied.  Statistically though, Anthony was the worst player on the court today, ending with a -10; the Knicks made their run in the third quarter with him on the bench behind the play of Felton.  Anthony also turned the ball over seven times, looking almost disinterested at times throughout the game and not playing with the same edge he had in the first three games of the series and down the stretch of the regular season.  Everyone has a bad shooting day once in a while and could not have come at a better time as the Knicks entered up 3-0. ·         The first half was as bad as the Knicks have played at any point of the season, looking like they did during the disastrous west coast trip in March.  They turned the ball over 12 times, more than they did per full game in the regular season, and could not hit water if they fell out of a boat in the ocean let alone put the ball in the basket.  The Knicks scored only 35 points in the first half and did not look ready at the start of the game.·         The shooting for the Knicks was rough throughout the afternoon, as they shot 34.4 percent going 31 of 90 from the field.  The three point shooting was not much better, as they shot seven of 30 for 23.3 percent.  The Knicks will need better efficiency in Game 5 to close out the series and finish off the Celtics.

UFC Quick Quote: Dana White has no solution to eye poke issues in MMA

1367167441

"That's the glove that's approved all over the country by all the Athletic Commissions. Alright, let say you had gloves with fingers on them, you could still poke people in the eye with them. With a boxing glove, they used to have problems back in the 70's and maybe early 80's with guys getting thumbed in the eye. Cause those old Everlast gloves used to look like a lobster claw and guys used to get thumbed all the time, then they made the attached thumb to it. I just don't know how you would do it in MMA with the grappling."

-- UFC 159: "Jones vs. Sonnen" on Saturday night (April 27, 2013) was a card plagued by accidental eye pokes unlike few before it, and Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) President Dana White doesn't know how the frequently occurring incident can be prevented. Both Alan Belcher and Gian Villante were the victims of some nasty, albeit unintentional eye pokes at the hands --and fingers-- of Michael Bisping and Ovince St. Preux that led to both fights being stopped prematurely. Eye pokes have and always will be a part of mixed martial arts (MMA) competition, and at the UFC 159 post-fight press conference (watch it here) White admitted he doesn't known what --if anything-- can be done. For more news and notes on UFC 159, check out our complete event archive here.

2013 NFL Draft - Top 10 Wide Receivers

One of the positions I'm focusing on most during the Draft process this year is Wide Receiver. I believe it is the New England Patriots biggest need in the Draft and I expect them to address it in early and often. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Patriots double dip at WR in this Draft. Here's a look at my Wide Receiver Rankings for the 2013 NFL Draft.1. Tavon Austin, West Virginia - Austin is a terrific slot receiver. He's an explosive playmaker. He is not only quick but fast. Very good in space. Dangerous return man. Tough player, will take a hit. Only question mark is durability due to his size. 2. DeAndre Hopkins, Clemson - Hopkins is one of the most productive receivers in this Draft. Last season at Clemson he had 18 touchdowns and over 1,400 yards. He is a strong physical receiver. Fearless over the middle. He catches the ball well and has outstanding footwork. Hopkins has excellent awareness and runs sharp routes. 3. Robert Woods, USC - Woods is probably my favorite receiver in this Draft. He is a savvy receiver. He played in a pro style offense at USC. Very smart player. He is a polished route-runner. He's a solid blocker. Woods is an extremely hard worker and team player. 4. Cordarrelle Patterson, Tennessee - Patterson is a good player but a bit overrated. He is a big strong receiver who has good speed as well. He has good hands. His route-running needs work. He is raw but has potential. He has a good football IQ and seems focused on improving his game. 5. Keenan Allen, Cal - The first thing you have to mention with Allen is his health. He is coming off a knee injury and people wonder if he can return to form. He is a very gifted receiver. He has a great combination of size and speed. Before the injury he was a top 10 prospect, now he's slipping. 6. Stedman Bailey, West Virginia -  One of my biggest sleepers in this Draft. I believe Bailey could eventually be the best WR from this Draft. He is a natural receiver. He runs sharp routes, he's smooth catching the ball, he has great awareness. Bailey is very experienced, he was a 3 year starter. Played every receiver spot on the field.7. Justin Hunter, Tennessee - Hunter is a tall receiver with a big catch radius. He has deceptive speed. He is your typical deep threat receiver. He has durability concerns and is considered soft by some. He isn't very physical and doesn't like to take hits. Again your typical deep threat receiver. 8. Quinton Patton, Louisiana Tech - Patton possesses an Athletic build. He is a quick receiver and runs good routes. He doesn't have breakaway speed. He tracks the ball well and makes nice catches. He is a solid blocking receiver. 9. Terrence Williams, Baylor - Williams has excellent speed. He has a long stride and accelerates well. He has good flexibility which leads to making some impressive catches down field. Not the best route-runner. Williams is a smart football player and has good leadership qualities. 10. Aaron Dobson, Marshall - Dobson is a savvy route runner. He has good speed. He had an impressive showing at Marshall's Pro Day and opened some eyes. He has small hands but still catches the ball pretty well. Better football player than athlete, which is fine in my book.

Random NBA .GIF of the Day: Zach Randolph Bear Hugs Matt Barnes.

AWWW. Via: @cjzeroHow did Matt Barnes know that Zach was coming at him in a non-malicious manner? I mean with the bad blood between both teams, you would have expected a fight or something. After all, this did occur after a questionable flagrant foul call on Barnes. Oh well, GAME RECOGNIZE GAME, I guess. Also, I would like you to know that if a man, the size of Zach Randolph stumbles towards me, I would have done one of two things. The obvious is to poop my pants out of fear. Very normal. I am sure that would be the general reaction. The second, more poop. This of course would only be possible after a high fiber meal. No man can really have that lack of sphincter control. I apologize in advance for any disturbing mental images popped up during the reading of this senseless post, I probably should have warned you.

Steelers Pre-draft Visits Show That Defense Is Still A Priority

As the NFL's pre-draft visit period comes to a close, the total tally of the players entertained by the Pittsburgh Steelers tells a familiar tale. Back on January 8th, If It Ain't Steel wrote an article that said the fixing of the Steelers starts with defense. Apparently the Steelers themselves agree. Each NFL team is allowed 30 pre-draft visits. The Steelers total of 24 is more heavily represented by the defensive side (17) of the ball than the offensive side (7) of it. While there are holes over the entirety of the roster, the defensive side of the ball is...(ahem) more experienced and mature. Three of the four starters in the defensive backfield alone carry an average age of 33 as of the 2013 season. Aside from the array of pass rushers brought in (and I am a firm believer in the theory that you can't have too many players who can rush the passer), two things stand out when looking at the visiting players. The first being that the cornerbacks brought in indicate where the Steelers will be looking for that much needed youth and depth. It is of interest that of the cornerbacks making visits - Florida State's Xavier Rhodes, Utah State's Will Davis (whose interesting story is linked here: http://tinyurl.com/cjh26ad), UConn's Blidi Wreh-Wilson (pictured above), LSU's Tharold Simon and William & Mary's B.J. Webb - all but one are mid-round prospects. Are the third through the fifth rounds where they will look to pull the trigger on the position? The Steelers let unrestricted free agent CB Keenan Lewis walk via free agency, so that leaves Ike Taylor, Cortez Allen and William Gay as the only three who could be considered locks to make the 53-man roster next season. Bringing up the rear, as it were, behind them are Curtis Brown, DeMarcus Van Dyke, Josh Victorian, Isaiah Green and Justin King. Conventional wisdom dictates that only one or two of those five players make it onto the 53 man roster, and the odds favor only one if the Steelers invest a mid-round pick on another cornerback. The other thing that stood out was the lack of true five-technique defensive linemen to make their way to the South Side. Although Steelers.com says Utah’s Star Lotulelei, Florida’s Sharrif Floyd, BYU’s Ziggy Ansah (who himself could also play OLB) and Florida State’s Bjoern Werner are the top defensive line prospects in this month's NFL Draft (and players the Steelers could potentially select), none of those were brought in. In fact, none of the defensive linemen brought in were true defensive lineman. - http://tinyurl.com/cywjc8rThough Clemson's DE Malliciah Goodman was a pre-draft visitor, and though Georgia's DE Cornelius Washington has been linked to the Steelers as high as the second round and as low as the fifth round, the signing of Steve McLendon was likely an indication that any such pick would be in the lower rounds for depth and special teams purposes. One such player to consider might be Utah's Joe Kruger who declared early for the draft following his junior season. Per Gil Brandt of NFL.com, "Kruger - the younger brother of Paul Kruger, who was a member of the Super Bowl XLVII-champion Baltimore Ravens and just signed a lucrative free-agent contract with the Cleveland Browns - stood on all of his numbers from the combine. Kruger looked very good in the positional workouts." - http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/players/1749704/joe-kruger"Paul ran me through what this was like for him, what the experience was like, how to calm myself down when things get tense," Joe Kruger said. "Things are going well. I'm prepared for it. I've met a lot of good people."Kruger, who led the team with six sacks, had two forced fumbles, an interception for a touchdown and blocked a field goal, has good size (6'6 3/8" 261 lbs.), quickness, and arm length. Has received plaudits for his effort and ability to bull-rush offensive linemen and he says he can play "all four positions on the defensive line."The pre-draft visits on the whole were: DE/OLB John Simon (3rd round prospect) - Ohio State; RB Christine Michael (4th rd pros.) - Texas A&M; ILB Vince Williams (7th rd pros.) - Florida State; OLB Jarvis Jones (1st rd pros.) - Georgia; OLB Jamie Collins (2-3 rd pros.) - Southern Mississippi; OLB Khaseem Greene (2-3 rd pros.) - Rutgers; SS Jonathan Meeks (7-FA rd pros.) - Clemson;S Phillip Thomas (2-3 rd pros.) - Fresno State; ILB Michael Mauti (5th rd pros.) - Penn State;DE Malliciah Goodman (4th rd pros.) - Clemson; WR Josh Boyce (2-3 rd pros.) - Texas Christian; RB Johnathan Franklin (2nd rd pros.) - UCLA; SS Shamarko Thomas (3rd rd pros.) - Syracuse; CB Will Davis (5th rd pros.) - Utah State; G Nic Embernate (6-7 rd pros.) - San Diego State; CB Blidi Wreh-Wilson (3rd rd pros.) - Connecticut; CB Xavier Rhodes (1st rd pros.) - FSU;LB Sio Moore (4th rd pros.) - Connecticut.CB Tharold Simon (4-5 rd pros.) - LSU;CB B.W. Webb (4-5 rd pros.) - William & Mary;SS Duke Williams (5-6 rd pros.) - UNR;RB Eddie Lacy (1-2 rd pros.) - Alabama;WR Justin Brown (7-FA pros.) - Oklahoma;and WR Tavarres King (4-5 rd pros.) - Georgia.(This list will be updated if any more pre-draft visits occur on Monday or Tuesday.)~TIDBITS: "Heath (Miller) is working out and he looks great," Ben Roethlisberger said during an appearance on 102.5 WDVE. "He's walking without a limp. From what I saw I think he looked good." - http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2013/4/17/4235778/heath-miller-injury-update-looks-great~Antonio Brown is grateful to have Emmanuel Sanders back. - http://tinyurl.com/c5uusqc ~In "the most unkindest cut of all," Ex-Steeler Harrison signs with the Cincinnati Bengals.
